Cheeseburger Burritos made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1/2 cup pickles chopped
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise optional
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Method

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Then, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat if necessary. Stir in the ketchup and mustard, mixing well to combine.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and evenly distributed.
  6. Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds to make them pliable.
  7. To assemble each burrito, place a generous scoop of the cheeseburger mixture in the center of a tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and chopped pickles.
  8. If desired, drizzle with mayonnaise for added creaminess. Fold in the sides and roll the tortilla tightly to enclose the filling.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining tortillas and filling. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
