In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed throughout the cookie dough.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded portions of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Crush the cornflakes into small pieces and press them into the top of each cookie mound before baking.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
