Ingredients
  

  • 4 large sweet onions sliced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions with the olive oil, ensuring the onions are evenly coated.
  3. Add the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the bowl. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors.
  4. Transfer the seasoned onions to a baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and stir the onions. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the onions are caramelized and golden brown.
  7. Once done, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
