Indulgent Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes for Any Occasion

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the baking dish by generously greasing it with butter.
  3. Slice the russet potatoes thinly, about 1/8-inch thick.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic, onions, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  7. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
