Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded coconut, melted butter, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract.
Pour the coconut mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
While the bars bake, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Remove the bars from the oven and pour the melted chocolate over the top.
Let the bars cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
Once set, cut into squares and serve.
