Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices of day-old bread
  • 2 cups diced vegetables celery, onion, and carrots
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese your choice
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté the diced vegetables in a bit of oil until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove vegetables from heat and combine with the bread in a large bowl, adding herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and cheese; mix until combined.

  8. While baking, prepare the creamy gravy by whisking together the flour and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat.
  9. Gradually add broth to the cream mixture until you achieve your desired thickness, cooking until bubbly.
